    Re: Region D Football schedules

I think Haysi will find 2 more games so I don't think that's a big concern when all is said and done. You are right, Honaker will be the pre season favorite to win the BDD. Haysi may very well have to make the div-1 playoffs on points. Are you certain that Clintwood will petition for D-1? I also think it's very possible that Castlewood or Coeburn could win the cumberland and make for a very interesting D-1 field of Burton, Clintwood, Haysi and Appy. That would arguably make the D-1 field as strong if not stronger that d-2. When is the last time that could be said if ever?

    Re: Region D Football schedules

"My only problem with Haysi is their scheduling, they play chicken in my opinion. From what I've been told they pretty much refuse to schedule a game out of conference against a big time team. Outside of CW they play nobody out of conference."

-I have a problem with their scheduling too. It hurts the fan base because of some of the boring games that inevitably occur. That being said I don't know that it is done on purpose. It may be but I don't really know. It's just as easy to say why doesn't some of these teams play Haysi as it is to say the opposite. I know some of the AA teams Haysi has contacted in the past didn't want to play Haysi because if they were going to take a chance on losing a game they would prefer it be another AA school than Single A. If you will tell me a big time team that you know for a fact wants to play Haysi then let me know and I will call Colley myself. Haysi fans want these big games but they don't want to do an away/away series like Richlands asked for.

You think the d-1 playoff field was tougher than d-2 top to bottom? I don't think so. PV, Haysi, Clintwood and Honaker? Who did you have in D-1? Burton, Appy, Ervinton and Castlewood? Very weak at the bottom in D-1 last year. Won't be the case anymore.

    Re: Region D Football schedules

I dont know who wants to play Haysi and who doesn't but why dont PV and GC have these same problems? You dont see Haysi scheduling Richlands on a regular basis like PV and GC do, Haysi in recent years has played Rye Cove, Ervinton, East Ride Ky, Jenkins Ky, and Betsy Lane Ky all in the past three seasons. You might see a GC or PV play somebody like that in the regular season once every 10 years.

    Re: Region D Football schedules

Well the top two teams in D2 had a 1-3 record against the top in D1. Granted CW and PV could both beat Ervinton and Castlewood but even had they played that would only even the record.

I believe they are divided upon how many games you play instead of just 10.

Thats intersting I wonder if some math Guru football coach could come up with some way that would benefit his team by scheduling less games?

I can't answer that. Location may have something to do with it. Haysi is not exactly in the middle of the autobon. Maybe when the Coalfields Expressway gets built then Haysi can beef up there schedule a little . The reason Haysi always played RC is because RC was consistently willing to schedule them. That didn't change until this coming year.

I wish they would get that thing built, I could save un-Godly amounts of time going to Buchanon Co if they'd build that thing.
